Axion G6 flights

This week we was just a casual flying day. There was a bit of a strong breeze blowing and so we didn't get to launch too many rockets. We flew a shorter Axion G6 rocket a couple of times at 200psi with foam. Both flights were nice and straight and fairly high with good parachute deployment for both of them. We didn't want to fly an altimeter or a camera on it as there was the real possibility that the rocket would drift into the trees. Next time when it's calmer we'll put the AltimeterThree on it to see how it goes.

Paul also flew his two rockets on a B6-4 and C6-3 motors. The rockets also had good recovery so we were happy.

More Axion G6 flights

Today was another casual day for flying. We flew the Axion G6 again three more times. This time because the wind was a lot lower we flew it with an altimeter. The first flight was flown at 200psi and the second and third flights were pressurised to 210psi. The altitudes were 600', 577' and 684'.respectively. The second flight was a bit squirly on the way up and so didn't go as high. We suspect this was due to the parachute door opening at the top towards the air stream and acted as an air brake. We made sure the top of the parachute door was pressed against the nosecone on the third flight and it looked a lot better. The rocket landed safely in all cases with minor damage done to the nosecone shell on the first two flights as the parachute was attached a little too far back and it came down mostly nose first.

Paul also flew his Fireflight on a B6-4 and Black Thunder on C6-3. Both flights went well and landed safely.
